Mid-Autume Festival : Pokfulam Fire Dragon Dance

supported by the Intangible Cultural heritage Funding scheme, the government of the HKSAR

The Fire Dragon Dance is the highlight of the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations in Pokfulam Village, a community with over 200 years of history. During the festival, an incense-burning hay dragon travels to every household along the Dragon Dance Route, bringing blessings to residents and fostering a sense of community solidarity.

In this transdisciplinary research project, which combine community engagement, oral history, and GIS (Geographic Information System) mapping, the MHRC team documents this vibrant tradition and uncovers its social and cultural significance.
